Trained at the Falmouth School of Art Julian Mason is dedicated to communicating his love of the landscape through his paintings. Julian’s work endeavours to capture the atmospheric effects of a scene and how the elements influence the landscape. From dramatic views of Scotland to seascapes of Cornwall, each painting is the culmination of technical skill mixed with the insatiable desire to invite an equally passionate response from the viewer. His work is enjoyed by many private collectors on these shores and beyond.
Join me on Saturday 8th March for an introduction to oil painting at Rockside Studio. This course is suitable for those who’ve never tried painting with oils before or those looking to raise their confidence with this medium and enjoy a pleasant and relaxing day in this lovely rural setting on the Staffordshire / Cheshire border.
The class will run from 10am until 3pm and will include advice on composing your still life effectively, preliminary colour mixing, and how to introduce depth and shadows. At the end of the day you can choose to take your art work home or have it framed for a small extra charge. There will be refreshment breaks and time for lunch. A range of hot and cold drinks will be provided and you are welcome to bring your own snacks and lunch.
All materials will be provided, including loan of an apron if required. Rockside Studio is a traditional self-contained stone outbuilding with handwashing and toilet facilities, and a wood burner for chilly days.
